Strona główna Observatory
The building of the Gdańsk Educational Foundation, the body that runs our preschool, houses an astronomical observatory that is unique in Poland. The main equipment in the observatory is a telescope – an apochromatic refractor TEC 160ED with an objective diameter of 160 mm and a focal length of 1280 mm, manufactured by the American Telescope Engineering Company.
The telescope is automatically guided behind the movement of the stars by a device called New Atlux made by the Japanese company Vixen. The equipment is completed by a camera for taking photographs.
In the near future, an even smaller solar telescope will arrive and be coupled to the main telescope.
In August 2009, the observatory was named after Professor Robert Głębocki, who was a specialist in astrophysics and astronomy.
Our students can enjoy activities at the observatory.
